Police warn of increased presence downtown due to `unconfirmed, uncorroborated` information

In a tweet, Toronto Police say there will be more police in the downtown core today because of what the force is calling an “unconfirmed, uncorroborated piece of information.�The tweet, posted at 9:30 a.m., did not offer any further details.“As a result of this information, you will see an increased number of police officers throughout the city and, specifically, in the downtown core,� the tweet finished. Toronto Police said they could not immediately respond to the Star’s request to elaborate. “The information in the tweet is what we have and that’s the information we’re releasing at this time,� said Const. Caroline de Kloet. “We always air on the side of caution in regards to the fact that people might be concerned that they see more police presence out there.�More to come.
